Red Hook is a located in the Northwest part Dutchess County, New York. The name is believed to stem from the red foliage on trees on a small strip of land on the Hudson River. The town contains two villages, Red Hook and Tivoli.
The town also contains two hamlets, Annandale-on-Hudson and Barrytown. Both hamlets are located in the Hudson River Historic District.
Red hook is one of the best places to live in New York. Residents enjoy restaurants, coffee shops, parks, and highly rated public schools.
