White Plains is located in Westchester County and is considered one of the best places to live in New York and is the eleventh largest city in the state. White Plains is considered to be the commercial hub of Westchester.
White Plains was incorporated as a village in 1866 and as a city in 1916. Following World War II the downtown area developed in to a destination shopping district with many New York based department stores. Some of the retail locations were the first large scale suburban stores in the United States.
Living in White Plains offers residents an urban feel with bars, restaurants, coffee shops, parks and highly rated public schools.
