Dover is located within the eastern border of Dutchess County, with a population of about 9,000 people. Known for it’s location and community, Dover stands in a great area between Albany and New York City.
Dover was formed in 1807 from part of the town of Pawling. The first town meeting took place in the home of John Preston, an early settler. That home, built circa 1730, is now an inn and restaurant known as Old Drovers Inn.
Dover offers residents a suburban rural mix feel with above average public schools.
